The project First Time Vote is intended to contribute to a democratic, free and fair electoral process in Montenegro, through education of new voters about the electoral system and voting procedures, and to increase the active participation of the youth in political processes and social life of Montenegro and to promote education concerning political rights in Montenegrin schools.
Through our workshops and lectures, Montenegrin high-school students who exercised their right to vote for the first time were taught about the electoral legislation in Montenegro, the electoral law and voting procedures, Montenegrin political and electoral reform, civic election monitoring, civil initiatives and the role of NGO sector.
In the period from October 2005 to Mayin cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science, about 6 000 graduates from all Montenegrin municipalities attended CDT’s lectures and interactive workshops about suffrage. The project was funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
