Center for Democratic Transition, in cooperation with NGOs Alpha Center (Nikšić) and the Centre for the Promotion of Civil Society (Sarajevo), from February 1 until September 31, 2011 will carry out the project "Youth Network Nikšić - Sarajevo."
This is a cross-border project between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose main objectives are:
- The establishment of quality relationships between young people from Sarajevo and Nikšić
- Creation of long-term friendship between the two municipalities
- Encouraging communication and exchange of experiences in the region
- Developing an awareness of shared goals between two states
The project involves cooperation of high schools from Nikšić and Sarajevo.
Participants and target groups in the project are:
- High school students and their parents,
- Directors and teachers of high schools,
- Representatives of local government,
- Representatives of the cultural milieu (intellectuals, writers, artists)
- Media representatives
The main purpose of all activities will be socializing, education, and cooperation among students from Nikšić and Sarajevo.
Main activities in the project:
In March, twenty third-grade students of two high schools in Nikšić (Gymnasium and Economic school) will be selected. The same activity will take place in Sarajevo. So, each activity will be based on this forty high school students.
In each high school there will be a project office, as a logistics support for students in their activities. The office stuff will provide help in communication, joint operations and create new ideas during the project. During February and March a common web portal will be created, so that students from offices in their schools will be able to update their web site.
The most important activities in the project are gatherings of students. The first gathering will take place in Sarajevo and is scheduled for April. Students from Nikšić will visit their friends in Sarajevo, where they will have tour through the city of Sarajevo, visiting museums, galleries and other cultural institutions, and also sports and debating competitions. Visits will last 4 days. It is important to note that students will be accommodated in the homes of their friends, in order to achieve closer relationship between them.
Then, in June, summer school will be held, in Plužine for 2 days, and 2 days on Tjentište. The goal of this activity is to educate students through workshops in accordance with their interests, as well as opening opportunities for new joint projects. Guests in this summer school will be eminent experts (science, politics, art) from both countries.
A visit of students from Sarajevo to their friends in Niksic is planned for September. Visits will last 4 days and it is the last stage in the project.
At the end professional musicians will compose the official anthem of the project.
The project is being implemented with the support of the European Union, which coofinance 85% of the project.
